Why I live where I live

This field of buttercups made me pull over with total disregard for the groceries I had in the trunk.

Hold that thought

The next time someone sniffs and snootily implies that it’s not “art” unless it’s painted, hand-dyed, printed or messed with somehow, I’m going to remember these 2592 pieces and their related seams and think something pretty unprintable in their direction. OK, I might not think it. Just putting it out there as a warning.

The big bang

I was going to type “stands for goodness” but actually the big bang last night made all my hair stand up on end, made the power go off for a long moment and made two of the three cats invisible for a couple of hours. I had been reading facebook comments about distant heat lightning and after awhile I could hear distant thunder. Closer…. closer… closer… close…. 1… 2… 3…. 4…. 5…. closer. !!BANG!! Big flash AND BOOM all at the same time. Eeks. I unplugged in the moment that the power was out – computer and backup drive. Went upstairs and got into bed with the lone visible cat. At one point had to close the freaking window because of blowing rain. Not what I wanted to do when it was still 80+F and humid as all get out. I had rigged a little fan in my room so it was bearable during the night.

This morning was quite pleasant and with three cats. I went to work and left the computer unplugged.

Had great time at East Side’s annual retreat to Son Rise camp – lots of work done by lots of gung ho quilters. I started out with a huge stint of ironing – all those seams to press open on the new quilt and then kept my head down and got all the crosswise seams sewn together too. Finished at 8:45 pm on Saturday night which gave me enough time to enjoy a glass of wine and a couple of jello shots!

Mom and I stopped at Adirondack Quilts in Glens Falls and i left with an armful of mushy-colored fabrics.

Since I’ve been home I’ve been shovelling out my sewing room and thinking about what to put in each of the two room at my disposal now. Still working out what will work and where it can all fit. I did get some anti-fatigue floor mats at home depot and finding out what a difference they make when you’re doing that huge stint of ironing or cutting! Four mats for $15 – the price is right for comfort!
