Today was the first bright sunshiny day after the big blitz of a blizzard. Bright blue, shiny, snow everywhere. No place to put the trash out for pick up other than the shoulder of the road, but I’m sure it will be ok. Most people are still in quasi-holiday mode but I’m trying to push ahead into the new year, getting some of the old stuff gone and making room for the new. I’m off on Friday so hopefully that will take care of the traditional spice cabinet clean out.

Also today, I hope to acquire a new large baking stone. The old one met a sad demise aided along by the cats. I put the big pieces on the bottom of the oven so it’s not all lost, but I need to make pizza and I need it NOW.

Stepped into the sewing room annex this morning before work and had a thought about the new project which also had a title attached to it, so I’ll have to do a bit of a mock up to see how that plays out. The title might stick anyway.

oooooh so that’s why we failed!

Oh. we probably should not have been interrupting Stay of Execution since that seems to have helped us rather than hurt us. Ooops.

Ciabatta, final resting phase.

What a pleasure to be home and able to plan my cooking out. No all-nighter for me tonight! Tomorrow I’ll do the final bits – vegetable and apple tatin – back by popular request from last year. Everything else is ready to go in the oven or on the stove and be heated and cooked and voila – dinner.

Guess I better go get ready for the family christmas eve get together. The ciabatta will have to cool its jets until i get home but luckily in a cool house that’s seriously not a problem.

One more sleep during which santa comes! (That’s Sandy Claws to you cat folks out there.) Happy holidays to folks who are celebrating tonight.

artist? redux

“I’m a little taken aback by anyone calling himself an artist because of my feeling that that’s the kind of designation that other people should give. You can be an artist in any field, but getting a degree to call yourself an artist would be like getting a diploma to call yourself a genius. If your work is good enough, it can be art, but art isn’t a product. It’s a quality. Sometimes that’s lost sight of. Quality can be in anything.” — Charles Eames

Thanks to Keri Smith for this great quote!
