Waiting for the new year

Ice Storm, December 13 2008

It’s been a somewhat quiet holiday season, which is quite ok. The weeks leading up to Christmas were not the norm: a big ice storm, a lack of power, a restoration of power, many days of continuing power blips, some snow, some more snow, a brief stint in the hospital by dad (who’s home and doing fine now) and then a nice family holiday.

When you work in the mall, shopping isn’t on your list of wanna-do things anymore. But as always, when I started, and actually started with a shopping list I was fine. All I’m gonna say is that I got some really lovely presents and that my brother enjoyed his yodelling pickle, as did someone in my niece’s household. (mine didn’t come from archiemcphee.com but thanks to them for putting the audio portion of the show online!)

Janet asked about fruitcake. ( /wave at janet! ) Got it, munching on it. Even the World of Warcraft is accepting of the rightness of fruitcake. It awards an achievement for eating holiday fruitcake, which is only available this time of year. Unfortunately it is soulbound, meaning you cannot gift it to others. Maybe that is their intent? If it were giftable I would stock up and shower it on people throughout the year. Instead, I give fellow players really big fish and other silly presents from time to time.

Merry Christmas 2008!

could it be true? A return of the errant blogger? If I can recall any code at all, perhaps!
