Remember the Seasonal Palette quilt started last year. I just received this link to how the quilts were displayed at Houston, inside a room in the middle of the huge show. Looks great. Thanks to SAQA and Gregory Case for the photos!

Meanwhile I added my own photos above in My Quilts: Full and Detail

Summer arrives and other thoughts

Sometime today I’ll probably tip over into the three hundred thousandseys. I know that is really pure bean-counting but there you go. Sometimes watching the beans pile up and knowing the exact number is what it takes to keep you going piling them up.

Got a brochure yesterday for Quilt=Art=Quilt yesterday and pondered awhile last night what quilt(s) I might have to enter there. Generally the time frame isn’t right for me to enter there or sometimes wrong for showing. The quilts are there quite awhile which is good for visitors but sometimes not for the quilts. Anyway I will ponder that some more and think about entering. I’ve never had a quilt accepted there.

Also received the SAQA quarterly. Very slim, too slick for my taste and too hot to spend anytime with it. It did serve to remind me to send off the extra bits they want to exhibit along side the seasonal quilts in Houston. I don’t much like those things but whatcha gonna do? They particularly asked for pieces of fabric and quilting samples so people can TOUCH something. Ahem. I don’t think that’s to be encouraged but again, not my decision.

I did manage to iron a few rows of stuff last night and I’m hoping it will be cooler tonight. I felt bad for the poor wrung out cats – they were looking pretty limp. Oh wait – so was I!

I’ll see if I can pull together an envelope full of “work in progress” stuff for SAQA and figure out where it goes to and then buckle down to ironing tonight. If I could get the thing sewn together as a piece tonight and start the other-way sewing tomorrow that would be wonderful!

And there you go – 295 more words down.

last haiku for the night

demands a statement,
twenty-five words of meaning:
tell the viewer why.

bah. I went with:

Sky arcs overhead
where the light and darkness meet
and joining, summer

Let the viewer make up their own mind as to what it’s about.

That last step

All along I’ve been taking photos of this quilt hanging on the design wall which is a fairly white color. Tonight I take it downstairs and set up the whole thing. First off none of my backgrounds are big enough. I may be the only person you know who buys black fabric by the bolt though so I was able to quickly jerry rig a long enough background. All said and done though I think the white is better. Tomorrow night I’ll try again upstairs on the wall and see how that turns out. I’ll have to move some tables around to get some distance.

Anyway. For your amusement:

Done.

Actually done doesn’t begin to describe. But let me try. Tonight, done means the label is on, sleeves and facings are done. Needs the final de-linting etc. Official photos. But it is as done as it’s going to get.

And tonight, as I literally have half the label sewn on, I get a bunch of instructions about the whole thing. Amazing. Just.Amazing.

Doesn’t matter. All that matters is that it’s done. For tonight.
